This data is obtained from the National Center for Education Statistics. It measures the percent of teachers who are not White, Non-Hispanic nationally. Rhode Island has seen growth from 7% in the 2017-18 school year to just over 13% in the 2020-21 school year. Rhode Island has the largest percent of diverse teachers compared to all of the New England states, but we are still well below the national average of 20% of educators of color.
